The sets are completely authentic to the original Desilu sets, apparently.

Scotty is played by James Doohan's son.

Highly recommended.

...my first 2 years in the Air Force nurse corps, I attended a couple of Star Trek conventions. What a blast. I heard Gene Roddenberry speak, and got my picture taken with Jimmy Doohan, and with Walter Koenig.

In the pediatric clinic, we were allowed to wear colored lab coats and put decorative pins, etc, on them because we were working with kids - definitely not part of usual uniform regulations. I wore a blue lab coat (science officer color), and sewed a Star Trek science officer patch on the left lapel. I purchased the patch at a cool little shop in downtown San Antonio. The name of the shop was - Star Base One.

One day, I was in one of the hospital elevators and was asked by someone where I had gotten the patch. (Non-trek fans often thought it was a real Air Force award of some kind.) Without thinking about how weird it was going to sound, I truthfully replied, "I got it at Star Base One." The question asker looked at me like I was certifiably nuts, at which point I realized how kooky my answer must have sounded.

Spock was my crush, being attracted to intellectual types as I have always been. In my imaginations fan fiction, I would be the brilliant Earth woman science officer who would break thru his Vulcan reserve, and we would fall madly in love, and not be bound by the pon farr.

A couple of years before he died, my husband and I heard Leonard Nimoy speak at a small local theater in one of the far northwest suburbs of Chicago. Every seat was full.

I loved my little flip phone for just the reason that it seemed like a TOS communicator. I moved to a smart phone, reluctantly, when our younger son went off to college and I needed to be able to text because he answers texts but not voice mails.

Live Long and Prosper, Trek fans.
