(37,993 posts)I remember them as "Worry Stones" from when they were a thing in the late 60s/early 70s. When I bought an actual fidget spinner, I flashed back to having a worry stone and liking it a lot. So I bought one.

Someone gave me a really pretty polished stone of perfect size, I dubbed it a worthy worry stone.
I misplaced it. of course, did not find it till packing for yet another move years later.
I don't get the fidget spinner thing at all....says someone who Had to have a hula hoop back in the day.

(37,993 posts)I know there are smaller ones but the one I got was a bit unwieldy for my small hands. Mostly I just lay it on the desk and watch it spin. I think it's a nice distraction but not nearly as soothing as a Worry Stone. Plus Worry Stones are a nice cheap way to own pretty, polished rocks.

(6,353 posts)and one of the things I made was Worry Wood!
There was a shop nearby that sold small pieces of all sorts of different woods, most of them around 1/4" thick. I would just cut out a kidney shaped piece and use the grinding tool to put a nice thumb-sized indent on one end of it and then sand it all down 'til it was shiny smooth.

(4,492 posts)It was fun but I liked the fidget cubes better. I'd never buy one though. MY fidgeting is knitting.
