Happily they didn't disturb the great blue heron roosting on the dock.
Ain't nature grand?
Had 3 bucks (black tail) resting in the yard yesterday. The big one was curious about one of my cats and approached him with his mouth open. Someone said that is how they smell. Anyway - said cat was scared until he left.

(149,530 posts)I live in suburbia...........houses for as far as the eye can see.
No does or other major wildlife run through my back yard!
We do have squirrels, the occasional skunk or racoon......but they're rare.
Nature is grand!

(54,256 posts)Yesterday an armadillo scuttled across the yard.
I think there's a herd living under my shed.

The first one stopped and looked right at me for a few seconds - wish I'd been quicker with my phone/camera - and then moved on, to be immediately followed by his two friends. Despite my missing the pic, it completely made my day, they were so lovely. I just worry about those that don't know to keep an eye out like I do.
