So, our 3 month sojourn in France is coming to a close.
It's been crazy, it's been fun, it's been totally frustrating and totally fulfilling, in so many ways.
We've have dealt with highly caffeinated Portuguese guys who promised much and delivered on about a quarter of those promises. There was the English electrician who thought that we were easy marks and gave us an estimate which would have bought him a new boat.
There were the multiple trips to IKEA, FLY, D'Arty, and OccaDeco (FLY - a kind of French IKEA. D'Arty - BestBuy but way smaller and they sell ironing boards. OccaDeco - independent small 'brocante' place that sells used stuff from corkscrews to chandeliers) to buy furniture and appliances and then bring our purchases home in a fairly small car. That got interesting on the motorway(basically interstate but better maintained and with 18 wheelers restricted to a top speed of 90KMH but cars can go 130KMH which makes things WAY more interesting). And then there was the assembly of the furniture. I've lost 4 or 5 kg since we've been here, and am looking at buying new trousers when we get back to the US.
Tomorrow the electrician who looked at the place and said that he could do what needed to be done for under $1500 is coming to fit new sockets and move the control box.
We're going to be painting when we come back in January, and buying a dishwasher.
We met with our bank 'conseiller' who is now back from her vacation and finally fixed the problems with online banking.
And we're going to totally miss being here.
In any case, for anyone who might be interested, here's a link to the apartment https://photos.app.goo.gl/gHxJQ1kVuNp9koIZ2
It's available from October 20, 2017 through January 5, 2018.
