Does anyone have a suggestion about dealing with a stink bug infestation?

They are ALL over the living room and porch screens. Picture that scene with the fly covered window, in the movie 'Amityville Horror'. Ok, not QUITE that bad, but damn close!

3. I assume you are looking for options that don't involve Raid?

Do you live up north or do you live in the south?

If you live up north they may be looking for winter shelter.

(I like the vacuum approach. You can use a shop vac for screens etc. )

There are some organic products that can be used in indoor/outdoor household areas..

ETA: USA Today says soapy water can kill them. But I'm a bit skeptical. It's worth a shot.

4. I tried the vacuum and that just made a small dent in the population

It feels like I'd have to devote hours to standing outside with a vacuum cleaner. I will use that technique for any that get inside, though.

I read that they hate the odor of garlic so I made some potent garlic spray. The bigs are still here and I'm craving Mediterranean food!

I tried some of my organic weed killer that is vinegar, salt and Dawn dish soap. The bugs are still here. ARGHHHHHH!!!!!

7. I wouldn't expect garlic to do anything

Soap/salt etc. requires direct contact with insects, it won't provide residual effect that is found with synthetic pesticides. Maybe strong dish soap on a surface might be a deterrent, but then you have to deal with soap coating your screens, doors, woodwork etc.

I'm glad these windows are at the back of the house. I'm going to have to do some major window cleaning, really soon.

If the garlic spray doesn't make a dent, I'll try the soapy water. It worked on the Japanese Beetle infestation, a couple of years ago.

14. Have you tried sprinkling diatomaceous earth on them?

supposedly it eats away at the carapace of such critters -- sounds cruel but is alleged to be effective...

The diatomaceous earth sands through the bugs' bottom shells, and all their precious bodily fluids evaporate through the holes.
