A good show to binge watch on Netflix.

I just had to get away from the news for a couple of days. I needed a break from it all.

So I just wanted to suggest a real great show from the BBC that is on Netflix. It is "Last Tango in Halifax."

It is a very entertaining show with 3 seasons of 6 episodes each. The story line is about an older couple who meet a second time 60 years later after knowing each other in high school. But the story is really about all the drama and heartbreak that exists in families and how remembering how much everyone loves each other allows people to move forward. It is often very touching with realistic and beautiful dialogue. It takes place in West Yorkshire, U.K. I thought maybe some might like it too.

I recommended to some millennials to watch "keeping up appearances" on Netflix. They got hooked and said they couldn't believe how funny the show was. MY 85 year old mother in law turned me on to it.

I think they made a major mistake in the plot at the end of season 2. But I still enjoyed it.

Netflix has been great for series from the UK and elsewhere. While I lean toward the crime drama material, especially the bleak ones (oh my god Hinterland is fantastic), this one just made me happy. I had liked the lead that was the lead in Happy Valley, which is what got me to watch Last Tango in Halifax.

I think the lead actor looks like Paul McCartney's not as cute younger brother. The acting in Hinterland is superb. I love that it is filmed in Wales.

You might want to check out River. Nicola Walker, who plays Gillian in Last Tango is the female lead in this series. She's fantastic. Also Shetland is pretty good. It takes place in the Shetland Islands.

Netflix got me started on them through The Fall and then I was down the rabbit hole with Happy Valley, Hinterland, etc. Bordertown was interesting, Top of the Lake was rough. I really enjoyed Witnesses from the French side after adjusting to the differences.

I love watching crime drama shows from around the world. I know that in a sense they're just as "realistic" as our own, but it gives me a look at a lot more of the world in this form with different pacing, characters, and the types of actors that aren't all glamour models.

You might want to check it out. Wonderful shows from all over Europe, including great Nordic Noir crime drama from Scandinavia.

If you haven't watched Spiral from France, it is fantastic.

playing a Sydney barrister with bad habits - gambling, drugs, unfaithful, etc - , but with an interesting selection of clients.

Four seasons now. I've just started the last one.
