What's your favorite Traveling Wilburys song?

Last edited Wed Oct 4, 2017, 05:19 PM - Edit history (2)

If your favorite Wilburys song isn't among the poll options, post it, and I will try to include it in the poll.

At 7 PM last night I turned on the radio (the local public radio station), and the guy who had a program I don't usually listen to decided to dedicate the entire 2 hour show to Tom Petty.
(I'm planning on taping some of the songs this afternoon when the program is replayed)

Special mention for Roy Orbison's Not Alone Anymore.

Of all the superstars in the Wilburys, the only one I ever got to see perform was Roy Orbison

Dylan, George Harrison, and Tom Petty are musical heroes to me as well.

I also love just about all ELO songs - especially "Hold On Tight
(ELO is now called "Jeff Lynne's ELO&quot

What a voice! I listen to his recordings often.

I grew up on Bob Dylan. As a little kid, I had his folk albums and remember when he went electric in 1965 (I was 7). Loved it!

No one has a bigger spot in my musical heart than Dylan. I have had the good fortune to see him many times over the years (first in '74 with The Band).

Tom Petty lived up the street from me for a long time. Then his ex-wife remained in the house. Cool place. I only saw him play once. But I had his first album on release (it came out my first year of college) and I played the heck out of American Girl and Breakdown at college parties way before that album took off with the public.

I adore George Harrison. Never got to see him. Too bad.

How would it feel to be as talented as Jeff Lynne when you're in a band with these other fellows?

I consider Roy Orbison to be one of the best singers ever, along with Woody Guthrie, Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley
(I've seen "Walk the Line" at least 20 times and "Bound for Glory" at least 30 times)

Wow, you lived down the street from Tom Petty?

I loved George Harrison too.

As far as how it must have felt to be Jeff Lynne in a band with those other multi-talented guys?.
.it probably felt like Jack Bruce being in a band with Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker.

There was a poster here who was a big fan of his, even had him in his avatar. I wonder what happened to him.

It's also got a "signature" George Harrison guitar riff for good measure.

but the Wilburys did record it as Anything You Want (You Got It), so I'm listing it as a poll choice.

one of the original Mississippi Sheiks.

I'm unable to post any links these days due to a computer problem, but you might want to listen to a 1980 Jason Brecth interview with Sam Chatman, who mentions writing Please Baby.
