Synopsis: A social worker named Storm Durham was allegedly fired for simply having a concealed carry permit. The story rings false and the similarity in names to Stormy Daniels is too close to be coincidence.

1. Well, even if it is true - too bad. VA is a right to work state/at will state.

The GOP has ensured that employers can fire employees for any reason. Good or bad. If her employers wish to fire her for this because they don't like it - that's their right. Deal with it GOP.

ON EDIT: Looks like she worked for social services. Not a chance in hell they could have fired her for this.

2. Social Workers who feel they need a pistol, probably are in the wrong line of work.

My guess is, they weren't fired for having a permit, but for carrying the damn thing when visiting clients. Think George Zimmerman working as a social worker.

3. Exactly what I was thinking ... or at least refusing to state unequivocally that they'd never 'pack'

... while performing their work duties, despite their possession of a CW permit.

What I'd guess is close to how things went down:

Person probably got caught going to some appt's with their heat intact due to the public reporting it ...

Then when confronted, worker made a stink about it how they actually HAVE a permit ... thus their superiors were wrong to admonish them for packing on the job!

Then their superiors said 'Well, if you still want to work here you must give us assurance that you'll stop this practice!'

To which the gun lover said 'huh-uh! I don't have to cause 2A!!!'

THEN they got fired.

Which then became, in RW Bullshit Fantasy-Land: 'ZOMG Govt Worker Fired JUST for having CWP!!11!'

5. I was a Hospital Social Worker and I did carry a gun....

.. I made home visits to new mothers...my clients were mostly low income single young moms. Father of baby wasnt always agreeable to visits and usually gang involved. Yep I legally carried a gun in a Police womans bag.

Even though it says it's unproven, there are details in the article that lead one to believe it was something else other than a CC that got her fired.

I find it completely not believable that someone would be fired for having a permit. Maybe fired for actually bringing the gun to work, but not for mere possession of the permit.

there had to be something else going on. I noticed that she's making a play to be a spokesperson for the NRA because of this. She may be as big a liar as trump.
