Hi all!! Can I join your group? I'm a newbie fan of Anime

I was introduced to it by my college kids.

So far, my exposure has been pretty limited.

I'm working my way through HunterxHunter.

I just finished the movie "A Silent Voice" -gorgeous, but heartbreaking!!

I'm loving HxH, but I'd kind of like to have another series going that I can alternate it with.
Sometimes I'm not in the mood for Action/Adventure.

Is there a nice, easygoing Anime that is suitable for a newbie like me?

(I watched the first episode of "Attack on Titan" and was like, "This is NOT the show for me!&quot

I watch about 2 hours of anime a day. I envy you at the beginning of your journey. There are TONS of anime that are less action oriented than HxH (btw, you began with one of the very best).
I suggest Fruits Basket for slice of life series that has completed.
For humor, you have a ton of stuff....my first one would be KonoSuba.
For isekai, I would pick That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.

That should get you started on your journey. Happy viewing!!!!!

I will look for those titles!

I was drawn in to HxH right away, but I admit that I was shocked and dismayed about 5 episodes in when suddenly bodies started dropping left and right! I was like, "What's happened to my adorable little show?!?!?!"
But, it was just barely tolerable for me to keep going. Plus, there were so many other elements of the show that I enjoyed.
I'm now in the early part of season 3.

Again, thanks for the other recommendations, I hope that I can find them available to me.

Trust me, HxH is well worth the ride. Having said that, and from your comments, you might be better staying with the slice of life or isekai for a while.

btw, if I don't see your posts, feel free to pm me.

I've had others recommend it as well!!

It's spring break, so I've had more time to watch tv than normal, so here's an update on my viewing (if you care):

HunterxHunter: Gon and Killua are inside Greed Island, but nothing much has happened yet.

Oh yeah: I had a question about the Mafia vs. Phantom Troupe battle. The guy who had all the dogs was killed. Before he was killed he let all of his dogs out of the car, and we never saw them again. Does the show ever let you know what happened to the dogs? I want to know.

Since I didn't have access to Fruits Basket, I kept poking around and found something that satisfies my need for something a little calmer: It's called "March Comes In Like a Lion." Are you familiar with it? So far I really love it. I think I'm on about episode 10: Rei is on a losing streak and very depressed.

Oh well, I guess that's it for now!

It is very inexpensive and has the most complete catalog of anime in existence.

You have stumbled onto a gem. March Comes In Like a Lion is one of my favorite slice of life anime.
It's not for everyone, but based on what you have indicated, right up your alley.

As to your question about the dogs, sadly, I cannot give you an answer.

When you get a chance, watch Your Lie in April. From what I can tell, you will love it.

Enjoy your journey.

I want to make sure this is something I will remain serious about before getting another streaming service.
(I'm on a pretty limited income, as an educator! Haha!)

Anyway, today is the last day of spring break, so my anime time is going to be pretty limited for a while.

But, I need some advice: I'm about to start the Chimera Ant arc of HunterxHunter and I'd appreciate your opinion as to whether you think I can handle it or not. I am able to handle violence/gore to a point. It's more the emotions that get to me. I am really sensitive to the following: Violence to animals. (I can't stress that one enough). Violence that is intended to be a cheap shot to the emotions - like, "Let's kill this loveable character to break the audience's heart" kind of thing. Characters that are introduced, given just enough time to become "important" and then killed. Why did I waste my time and emotion on them?

The death of a major character is not a deal-breaker, but it can't come over as manipulative or meaningless. I don't really care if the body count is high if we're just talking like the gunsels in the Mafia arc. I don't like it, but I can tolerate it, if that makes sense.

I also don't care about spoilers. What I care about is a story well-told. Knowing the end, or who dies and who lives doesn't ruin anything for me. I'd rather be prepared than unprepared.

So, what do you think? I promise not to be mad at you, no matter what you tell me!

I have a few comments and a question:

1. I found the end of the Chimera Ant arc surprising - in a good way. I think it was a bold choice to "humanize" the ants in the way that the story did, but it was better for that. Good to see that, in spite of all humanity's flaws, being human has an important redemptive side.

2. I was puzzled by one part of the closing credits. It shows Canary and one of the other butlers crying at Goteh's (I think that's his name) tomb. But then, he walks up to them, but then reverts to being a shapeshifter. What does that sequence mean? Is the "real" Goteh dead and this was just a dirty trick by the shapeshifter? Was Goteh a shapeshifter all along and is not really dead? I'm completely confused.

In the meantime, I was CRUSHED to discover that "March Comes in Like a Lion" has been dropped from Netflix!!! ARGH!!! I had been focusing on getting through HxH and had left MCILAL for awhile. I went to watch it this morning and *poof* it was gone as of May 31st! *sob*

Well, on to the next one, I guess.

Maybe I'll just need to start reading the manga of MCILAL.

After the incidents regarding the Election and Gon's recovery, Canary and Amane visit Gotoh's grave. It's revealed that the Kiriko's son is seen posing as Gotoh. It is implied that the Zoldycks recruited the Kiriko to keep Gotoh's death a secret from Killua and Alluka.

Your third point is an easy one. Get a Crunchyroll subscription. It's very cheap per month and it is THE place to watch anime. Nothing else comes close. March Comes in Like a Lion is streaming there.

I hope you continue to enjoy your anime journey. It is an amazing one.
I could recommend so many, many more. You might try Made in Abyss next if you get Crunchyroll.

If you stick with Netflix, you cannot beat Demon Slayer. It is a fantastic story, great animation and wonderful characters that you can care about.
Sword Art Online is easy to recommend.
Kotaro Lives Alone is a new entry that I really enjoyed alot. It's short, so an easy watch.
One Punch Man is one of my very favorite anime, that I have watched 3 times now.
Violet Evergarden is one of my top 20 anime. Wifey really enjoyed it too.
That should keep you busy for awhile.
When you run out, I can give you more.

so no ecchi, and nothing too gory.

Mob Psycho 100 would be a good rec as well, lots of humor and a decent enough storyline

I recommended Erased to my Mom BTW, as she has always liked live action mysteries
