New photography project this year - abstract

Cross posted in photography.

I'm back in advanced photography - shooting digital (mostly) this year - and pushing the limits of macro. All but the first are macro shots taken with the intent of using a shallow depth of field to create an abstract image. Most are fall leaves - but I'll have to find another subject soon!

I’ve always thought “abstract” would be a great theme for the photo contest. Looks like you’ve got several winners there.

I've been pushing myself since I love macro - but close-ups of flowers are so cliche. I also struggle with focusing too much on creating purely realistic shots - so I've been zooming in closer and closer so that there's only a bit in focus. I'm also experimenting with images where nothing is in sharp focus - but I haven't gotten any of those I really like yet.
