It’s on super smooth vellum paper and I use smudgers a lot. That’s where the softness comes from.

There are no hard lines anywhere. Every shadow is smooth and light. The proportions are very different to adult faces. And their hair is so soft and fine that it’s hard not to overwork it.

I really wanted to capture both her look of strong curiosity and the incredible softness of her features. I think I was successful.
