Unity Spencer, (the daughter of Stanley and Hilda) was born while Stan was working on his murals at Burghclere Chapel. Unity was a talented painter in her own right, a skilful realist with a powerful imaginative vision. She had her first exhibition at the age of 84 in 2015.

5. Dramatic with the direct stare of the model

The painting is rendered in broad strokes with a minimum of fine details. It has a strong presence all it’s own. The model is painted looking directly at the viewer with a steady, unwavering gaze which is unapologetic and her expression is neutral so you don’t see emotion in it. I like it very much. It’s powerful.
