A Study of Velasquez's Portrait Painting Techniques

- Old Dirty Masters. In this video I try to make a study of Diego Velázquez's Portrait of a Man ca.1650. My 16x20” canvas was painted with oil colors on linen using sable and nylon brushes. I primed the linen with tinted acrylic gesso. Colors used are: lead white, yellow ochre, cadmium yellow, burnt sienna, cadmium red light, alizarin crimson, raw umber, burt umber, ivory black, ultramarine blue.

Did Velázquez really paint this portrait? Experts say it's possible, what do you think?
