Related: About this forumI painted a dog! It's been all cats but I've branched out...

This is a friend's dog, he's a German Spitz.

(19,800 posts)Super well done. I love the paintings youve shared of the cats and this fella can hold his head high among those!
Super well done. His eyes are especially wonderfully expressive.

(55,525 posts)I did it with my grandmother's schnauzer. I like the white against all the black in the muzzle and the reflections around the eyes. Dog noses are tricky for me.

Snark humor aside that's a really nice portrait. The catchlights in his/her eyes make the picture look alive.

(131,231 posts)and there are tricky parts of a dog that you don't find on cats - especially the nose. Cat ears are tricky because they are a complex shape, but dog noses are even trickier because the shape is complex and they are right in the middle of the face and they have a subtle shine. So I'm glad that you all think the painting turned out well. The dog's humans like it, too, which is especially important. The dog himself is really sweet but he'd probably rather have food than a portrait.
