the back of our house. He was an Italian immigrant tailor and his shop was in a back room of his house.

Saturday afternoons, the Metropolitan Opera was broadcast on W.O.R. radio. In summer, (before air conditioners were prevalent) his workshop window would be open and the music could be heard in our house.

I remember his parties. Patio lights in his back yard. Records of Italian songs and people dancing. I wasn't invited but I enjoyed them anyway.

1960... he was then, probably in his 60's .... lost a lot of his grey hair.

One day I see him in his back yard which was also his driveway. His hair was dyed red. AND he had a brand new, 1964 red, Chevy Impala convertible parked in the yard.

I said to myself, when I get to be his age, I hope to have the spirit do the same thing. I was 18 at that time.

2001. I didn't color my hair. I still haven't lost my hair and it is still naturally brown. But I went out and bought a 2001 T-Bird.

Thank you, Mr. LaTella for showing me the way.
