Just bought a heat press - any hints or suggestions

I have used an ordinary iron to transfer Teddy Bear images to t-shirts for granddaughters, years ago, this was fairly easy. The images held up well to washings, kids wore the t-shirts many times.

I have a huge collection of vintage Texas postcards and thought I'd print some on t-shirts for Christmas gifts. I have scanned images and edited them in Photoshop. I have t-shirts, ready to print them using the new heat press.

Anything I need to know to keep from messing up? If they turn out okay, I will post some images. If they don't I will be bummed out.

1. Using the press

Put a sheet of Teflon over the item to be heated. That way any boo boos won't end up sticking to your press. I use mine for curing screen printed tee shirts. I print flash, print flash, print and air dry them overnight in an air conditioned room. Next day I press them for 30 seconds at some temperature that I have forgotten (there's a wide range that works, wash test them) and fold them with the help of a folding template. Great for raising money for the community or candidate of your choice since the profit margin is high. Some times I just go have a beer or two at the local bar and give them away. I gave away a ton of Beto shirts.. man we nearly pulled that one off didn't we! Gotta keep trying. Have fun, stay safe.

2. thanks for your comments, I have a lot to learn

I am still working on editing my images, have to go to my son's this week-end, so probably be first of next week before I an tryout my heat press. Plus, can't find all my old postcards, haven't had them out in years.

4. Bummer thing happened

On Dec 21, we had a fire in the upstairs of our house. Burnt out the bathroom and hallway, lost some of my bluebonnet art, but it was in the morning and we called 911, fire dept was there right away, put out the fire.

Now a big mess, working on it, work crew supposed to start the repair work on Monday.

No heat press projects until house put back in order.

We were so lucky. Forgot to replace our smoke alarm batteries this past year. just flew out of my old mind. I shudder to think of what would of happened if the fire had started while we sleeping..
