my Sunday school class is making a quilt for our senior minister as a retirement gift

Of course this will involve a bunch of women getting together with several sewing machines and having a party. That is the way the Good Neighbors roll.

We consulted with Dr & Mrs Bruster for colors, etc. It is going to be fun.

About 20 years ago, a local liturgical artist designed needlepoint covers for the altar cushions, the ministers' chairs and a special wedding kneeler. All were stitched by church members. Good Neighbors did one as a class project - even the men put in a few stitches.

and now we are grandparents. Thirty plus years together.

We have been through a lot together: weddings, funerals, baptisms, grandchildren, Habitat, etc.

Here is a shot from Sunday's service showing the kneelers. it is around 20:00 if you have to scroll through. Dr Bruster is showing off the newly baptized baby.

Later in the service you can see the rainbow banners behind the choir.
Last SUnday we had blue and yellow floodlights behind that wooden backdrop.

I am sure Dr. and Mrs. Bruster will love it. Could you include an homage to the needlepoint covers into your quilt design? They sound beautiful.

I am making a memory quilt for a guy I don’t even know. I met him through a remodeling project we had done. When he came to inspect his company’s work, he saw a couple of quilt projects I have in progress. He started telling me about how his mom had recently passed away, and how she always wore these big flowery blouses, and he would love to have them made into a quilt for himself, and his brother. And then he started crying a little.

I told him it was obvious that his mother sent him to me, and that he might as well just send me her blouses, because she wanted him to have this. He brought a huge box of lovely (mostly cotton) blouses that I’m cutting up for three big block “nap size” quilts. It turns out the brother has an 8year old son, who didn’t get near enough time with his grandma. His quilt will be the first made. Cutting quarter log cabins today.
