For all you beaders out there, something fun to bead.

Actually I have been beading prayer feathers but I discovered something fun a few months ago. Beading a wooden spoon. Here is how I did mine.

Sand the wooden spoon to get rid of the rough edges. (light sand paper here)

Drill a hole at the top of the spoon to lace in a leather strip for hanging or a ribbon etc....

If you want the spoon painted or stained, do that next being sure to put a couple of coats of high gloss water based polyeurethane on it afterwards.

Use a tubular Peyote stitch on the spoon starting at the ladle and working your way up close to the leather strap.

Hang it in your kitchen or do as I did, give some away to friends.

I painted one with a frog on the back of the ladle then beaded it to match a friend's kitchen. She went nuts over it and I am now getting requests to put them in art and craft shows
