I'm getting a new sewing machine

I'm so excited!
The one I have is starting to get tired, we are solvent - in fact, we just did our taxes, and apparently, you pay less on retirement income - so I decided it was time to upgrade. I looked around and decided on a Pfaff. New machines has some jazzy features, like more lights and more stitches, but the Pfaff has IDT, meaning it has even feed built right in. I'm getting the QE 4.2, which has 10" to the right of the presser foot. That'll make working a a big quilt much easier.
It should come in this week, and I have a tank top and cardigan in blue sweater knit for my first project. Can't wait!

for someone who does lots of quilting or other heavy-duty sewing. Will have to mention this to my sister-in-law who does quite a bit of upholstering on her tired old singer.

I picked it up on Friday, and the dealer took me into the classroom for an introductory lesson. Of course, when I was home and working alone, I had trouble remembering what to do. Eventually I got the hang of it.
This is so far advanced from my previous machine that it almost feels magical! It can lower the presser foot and start sewing. If you set it to stop with "needle down," the foot lifts up just a tad to let you pivot. Touch a button - or a setting - to have it lock the stitches at beginning and/or end, and another touch cuts the threads and pulls them to the back. The IDT is just as advertised; I basted a small quilt "sandwich," and everything fed through perfectly.
I'm working on a small tote bag I needed to make, but my next project will be a sweater knit top and cardigan, and I'm really looking forward to that.
