clever girl

my daughter, who never took to a musical instrument despite our encouragement, recently announced she wanted an electric guitar and an amp.

so i dug up my old ibanez from the basement. pretty decent condition considering the case had been gathering dust for about 25 years.

she did some restringing and tuning with some online app.

then asked for an amp. my old amp got lost in a move ages ago, and knowing her history with musical instruments, we said, give it a few weeks of practice and if you still want an amp, we'll get one for you.

so she goes to her room and strums a few chords.

within an hour or two, we hear this amplified sound from her room, and we're like wtf is she doing?

so we go to her room, and she has taken the mattress off her bed and is playing the guitar with the neck against the metal frame and the springs are acting as a natural amplifier!

Any idea how the kid came up with that? Was it simply accidental discovery? Trial and error? (but, meantime - leave the kid alone! obviously doing alright!)
