How One's Perspective Changes

So, today I hear Hold The Line by Toto. Always loved this song. Still do.
However, when it came out I had been playing guitar only a couple years and the solo seemed unattainable. Just great.
Today as I'm listening to it on the radio, I waited for the guitar solo.
At my level of guitar competence now, I kind of felt "m'eh" about the solo. It doesn't really go anywhere, doesn't build to and ending, the only part that seems to fit the song is the descending double lead at the end.
With all that, I really still enjoy hearing the sing. Just weird that what I once thought great doesn't strike me that way anymore.
