The audio at The US Festival is awful.
We don't even gear Elliott Easton's guitar solo. And, the studio version is one of the great solos of the 70s.
Surprised with an affair this big that they couldn't get the audio right. Bummed me out.

Bye Bye Love starts at 28:38 there.

As the fan page I linked to explains, some jerk in the audience at the University of Sussex threw a drink on the stage then. The band didn't miss a note, but you can see Ben's reaction.

thought it would be cute to try to disrupt it.

It was fortunate for the guy who threw the drink that Ben wasn't going to let the show be disrupted. I saw a story online somewhere about how Ben, in his teens, disarmed a wannabe robber who'd asked Ben and his friend for a ride. This stranger they were helping pulled out a knife and held it to Ben's friend's throat and demanded their wallets. Ben grabbed the guy's arm, took the knife away, elbowed him in the face, and dragged him out of the back seat, and threw him or knocked him down. And kept the knife.

are two versions of that appearance online, one with slightly clearer video but what I'm sure is the album track used for audio. This one is apparently live audio, a bit different from the other, though still pretty close to the album track.

And I do like watching that 1982 performance, even if the concert sound wasn't the best.

I hadn't run across the video of three songs from that show in France when I posted the shorter video here, but I'll leave it here anyway.

Great song, great singer, great band.
