Music Appreciation
Related: About this forumI'm on a late 1970s/early 1980s country music kick lately...
I have been playing Dolly, Kenny Rogers, Gary Morris, Crystal Gayle and especially Eddie Rabbitt constantly the last few days. So much of that music still sounds fresh and just as good, if not better, than it did then. Who's with me?

(19,800 posts)very good. Im not a big fan of later Country and Western but the 60s and 70 s stuff reminds me of road trips in the family Chevy with 8 tracks playing non-stop.

(114,760 posts)George Jones and Razzy Bailey were pretty amazing back then, too.
Rosanne Cashs Seven Year Ache album can still hold up the sky. 😁

(3,363 posts)The 1980s were a great time for country/pop duets. Kenny Rogers had three huge duet hits with Kim Carnes ("Don't Fall in Love with a Dreamer), Sheena Easton ("We've Got Tonight) and of course, Dolly Parton ("Islands in the Stream). Eddie Rabbitt hit #1 with both Crystal Gayle and Juice Newton ("You and I" and "Friends and Lovers", respectively). Crystal Gayle had an entire duets album with Gary Morris. Great times.
