17 January 1967. An article in the Daily Mail reported there were 4,000 holes in the roads of Blackburn, Lancashire. Beatle John Lennon said he used the article as the inspiration for the classic song, A Day in The Life, on the Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band album.
