Related: About this forumBorn on this date, Michael Brown of The Left Banke.
Part of return fire during the British invasion, New York's The Left Banke had a major hit in "Walk Away Renee" co-written by keyboard player Michael Brown.
He left the band before the release of their 2nd album and joined Stories, famous for writing the #1 hit "Brother Louie", recorded by Hot Chocolate. He left Stories before Brother Louie was released, so it seems Michael Brown had a knack for leaving bands just before the checks started rolling in. He was also the first of the four original members of The Left Bank to pass in 2015 of heart failure. He was only 65.
Considering Brown's sense of career timing I would expect "Renee" to make a comeback any time now.

And, a bit different for hits of the time. It actually ends. Many hit songs faded out.
