(24,654 posts)Hmm, I don't have Mother's Milk. Maybe that's why I thought that. We were both in bands managed by the same guy in the '70s. He was in a band called Tilt that he tried to put back together about '85 or '86 and he called me to come down and rehearse with them. It never worked out and he joined a band called Toby Redd. About 2 years later, he went to CA to audition for RHCP. He was the last in a long line of drummer's that auditioned.

(2,343 posts)that you guys know each other! I love the way he plays. I think i read a quote by him once that said, "steal from everyone" (regarding style in playing drums). I always thought that was good advice.

(24,654 posts)That becomes your own style. There are very few innovators. My style is a blend of 4 or 5 different players with a little of me in the mix.
