Rick Beato - Oasis...The World's Greatest ROCK Band Returns!

Last edited Mon Jul 7, 2025, 10:38 AM - Edit history (2)

(LOL! EDITING a second time to add this line because sometime since I posted this yesterday, Rick changed his video's title from what I quoted for this thread's title to "My Strange Oasis Haircut Story." )

I think he means "greatest band I saw in my youth who are now doing a great reunion tour" - but I enjoyed watching this anyway because he's so enthused, reminiscing and also mentioning people he knows with a connection to the band. One very happy fan boy...though he was already in his thirties when Oasis released their first album.

Editing to add that Rick's done a few other videos about Oasis, none of which I'd watched. I just watched part of one I'll post below, though, since it has Rick talking about his favorite Oasis songs, including his very favorite, which is the same as mine - Champagne Supernova, which I posted the music video for earlier today, at https://www.democraticunderground.com/1034147633 .

with him, and who later would play bass in Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.

I ran across one of those performances without planning to yesterday, when I was looking at covers of Champagne Supernova. Although that's my favorite Oasis song, I still don't like Ian's singing. I have never liked Ian's singing, and that's the reason I've never been a huge Oasis fan. Liam is often compared to John Lennon, but I was never a fan of John's singing, either (I loved Paul's voice).

Anyway, while looking at covers of that beautiful Oasis song, I came across this performance from Noel's High Flying Birds, with Tim Smith. I do prefer Noel's voice here to Liam's.
