theatricality is unnecessary and off-putting. Actually distracting from a good song and vocal performance.

I've posted a lot here about how much I like Bowie, for instance, but I liked him in spite of the theatricality and silly costumes and personas.

Oh you've cut me to the quick! Actually so did I. He left most of that stuff behind after 1976.

"With normal clothes, makeup." The makeup is part of her 'look' - inspired by drag. As for her performance, this was how she opened on the same night.

chorus in particular.

I was listening to the song in the OP again a little while ago - though while fixing dinner in the kitchen, not while watching her, because the theatricality detracts so much from the music.

I want to hear and often watch musicians play and sing. Don't want dancing, costumes, or histrionics or dramatic poses.

I dislike Lady GaGa's theatrics, too. Never liked Elton John's costumes. Thought Sweet looked ridiculous, though I liked their music. All fine singers and musicians, but I'd rather hear than see them.

4. The Giver is a good song. That's why I put it up on Music Appreciation.

As for Chappells outfits, she's not dressing that way for the boys

5. I don't care why she's dressing that way. I dislike it enough that it interferes with enjoying the music.
