Rick Beato said today that his September interview with Noel Gallagher of Oasis will NOT be coming out

Last edited Mon Dec 22, 2025, 10:03 AM - Edit history (1)

Ever, apparently.

This is the interview Rick did on September 1

https://www.democraticunderground.com/1034150780

and immediately posted about on his social media accounts...only to delete the posts by the next day, with no explanation.

Rick had looked really happy in the photo he posted September 1, which you can see in the thread at the link above. Noel hadn't looked as happy, but you can't read too much into that because his fans joke about him looking grumpy, and Noel's referred to the look as his "standard resting b*tch face" - see https://www.instagram.com/reel/C_0MKQWueUd/

But Rick wasn't happy tonight, when he finally gave his followers an update on the interview - saying that it's not coming out, and that's all he can say about it. No reason given. Reddit thread with video:

https://www.reddit.com/r/oasis/comments/1psomwq/noel_gallagher_beato_interview_update/

He added, "There may be another one in the future, but the one that I shot, it's not coming out."

There's lots of speculation as to why it isn't coming out among the fans on Reddit. One of the more popular guesses is that Noel had realized later he'd said too much to Rick, either about plans the band had that they didn't want revealed, or some other info that they'd decided should be left for the documentary they've filmed and are now editing from a lot of footage, on and off stage. Still, those sections if they exist could have been edited out.

Oasis did no other interviews during the tour, other than Noel calling the hosts of a UK TalkSports show he likes, to talk about the tour's early shows going well.

EDITING to point out reply 2 below, about what might be a likelier explanation of why the interview won't be released - that Rick most likely had agreed not to tell people about the interview during the tour, since they weren't doing other interviews, and he broke that agreement with the social media posts he quickly deleted. I'd mentioned that possibility back in September, in the earlier thread I linked to above.

Well, I certainly would not condone that either. I just hope it becomes clear what happened. hlthe2b 12 min ago #3

anything else to allow it to be released--especially if (as suggested) they only wanted to save the material for a documentary... then everyone--not just Beato--should cease covering them. Period. Even rock bands can behave with some professionalism. I feel for Beato, but he, frankly, is giving them far too much cover for such actions.

was over. When Rick posted those messages on social media, fans were shocked because the band had told the media months earlier that there would be NO interviews during the tour.

If Rick had forgotten that - or if he thought he might be able to ignore it - the band and their management would probably have been very upset because Rick's messages would have resulted in a LOT of pressure from media to give them interviews during the remaining months of the tour. And there would have likely been complaints from media in the cities where they'd already done concerts, who'd lost their chance to interview the band while they were there. Not sure who the band's managers are, but Liam's manager is also his partner of more than 10 years, Debbie Gwyther, and she and others working for Oasis might've had to spend much of their time for at least days mollifying journalists and editors who were upset about Noel having done a huge favor for Beato, while shutting out all others. The band and their managers probably heard from at least a hundred journalists, none of whom they'd have wanted to antagonize. All of whom would have felt they deserved a personal explanation if Oasis wouldn't also agree to an interview with them.

I'd mentioned that possibilty in September, in reply 2 of the earlier thread that I linked to last night.

Rick deleted that Instagram post last night, and I haven't seen anything yet that explains why. But
possibly he shouldn't have been posting immediately about the interview on a tour where they hadn't been doing any interviews, other than Noel talking to friends on his favorite sports talk radio show in the UK.

And I saw that possibility mentioned frequently by fans online, back in September.

I should have mentioned it in my OP last night, though I had seen more fan talk on Reddit of a possible conflict with the documentary, which has been in the news.

Fans were still hoping for months that even if Rick had violated such an agreement, deliberately or unthinkingly, he'd be allowed to upload the interview after the tour was over. He probably hoped for the same thing.

Rick's a huge Oasis fan, and he'd been trying to arrange an interview with Noel for years. Even though they weren't doing other interviews during the tour, Rick might've convinced Noel to do one before the first concert at MetLife stadium in NJ, the closest venue to Rick's home in Atlanta, as a favor to him.

Maybe he was so excited he couldn't resist posting about it. Getting that interview then was a coup - Rick Beato given preference over NME, Rolling Stone, all the major newspapers and news and entertainment shows, all the journalists Noel's known for decades in some cases.

But if Rick had had even an unwritten (but probably recorded, legally binding) agreement with Noel to keep the interview secret for months - embargoed for a while, as interviews sometimes are - he blew it. And if that's the case, Noel's actually doing him a favor by not telling everyone Rick broke that agreement, which would make other artists less likely to trust him.

This morning, after thinking about it more, that seems at least as likely a possibility as the band having reneged on their side of the agreement.

I'll edit the OP to make that clear.
