Amazing to be able to do both.

You can find it on YouTube.

And, I agree it's a cool part.
Sounds to me like it's doubled synth and electric bass. You can clearly hear the synth during the "do doo doo" parts before the chorus comes back in.
As I recall, the guy played a Chapman Stick which might explain why there are so many high notes on that part.
One of my faves from the 80s. Wanted to cover it, but I think it would have required sequencing to do it justice & the tech to link that with a live drummer wasn't good enough yet. Too bad. Would have been fun to do.

I quit performing in 2007. Juggling my work travel schedule with gigging added stress to what what was supposed to be a fun, though lucrative, hobby.
Now at 69, I don't want to be moving gear at 2 in the morning.
Today if I choose to perform, I take one guitar to an open mic night.
No gear to move; go early & leave early.
I came to terms with not performing because it occurred to me that I'll be a musician whether I perform or not. Performing is a "been there, done that" for me.
Alas, this song doesn't lend itself to me & a 12 string guitar.
