For the life of me, I can't recall a single one of his songs.

His last name is news to me too.

He shows up on TV in "North to Alaska" every now and then.

1. He was a pop singer want-to-be in the late 50s and early 60s.

Think of a lesser version/imitator of Dion. If we’d been around then, we might remember a couple of his songs. But I listened to snippets of a few Fabian songs on Apple music, and didn’t recognize any of them (and I do know some of the popular music of that era).
