He opened for Clapton at the old Chicago Stadium.
The both bands jam for the encore was worth the price of the ticket!

Saw Clapton a couple more times out at Alpine Valley (the one where Stevie Ray died) and in the Milwaukee at the Bradley Center ( really bad acoustics there).

My wife & I were there, too!
We live quite a long distance away so we didn't get home until 230 in the morning.
Got a few hours of sleep, put on WGN Morning News and the top of the hour recap included Stevie dying. We had just seen him 6 hours before.

Did you see me? we live quite close and spent a lot of time there. We had friends that worked there so it was pretty cheap for us to go. We went pretty much to see Robert Cray that time since we've seen the others before.

Rob is a smooth singer & smooth is a singular trait of Carlos' playing, even in his "I got lazy" days.
