Roger Whittaker shows how it's done right. At the 1:40 mark, when he sings "I heard a siren in the night" his voice almost make you almost think you heard a siren.

First heard this in Bad Sisters series. Found the Pogues first but like Ewan McColl Peggy Seeger version best. The Way Peggy's voice and the clarinet come in . Also Bettye Lavette.
