My favorite song of the 1970s

Brandy by Looking Glass. Every time I hear it, I can feel my blood pressure drop. The song just makes me happy, no matter how many times I hear it. The 45 mix is a sped up a little and the bongos are more prominent on the bridge.

And the musicians were about 20. I think maybe one of their moms loved the song too!

There is a pretty good cover band that plays at the local regional fair every year, and I wish they'd cover it!

Tho the song is older than the time, it reminds me of summers during my college years in the 90s, when the radio was tuned to the classic rock station. I worked on a crew that painted residence hall rooms. Not hard work, and everyone had a pretty good time.

It's usually one of my standards, along with another Kansas hit, "Dust in the Wind."

I have to have a couple of drinks to even consider doing karaoke. When I do, my go-to song is "Down to My Last Cigarette" in the style of k.d. lang.

It is sung with a nod and a wink, and it is so fun to watch people's faces when they realize what the song is about!

I am still partial to Jackie Wilson's version, but there is just something about this more laid back version that is so attractive. I think Rita Coolidge's voice is so well suited for this song.

And this album came in. I took it home to review and picked Brandy as a potential hit. Have always loved the song. Danny Okeefe and his LP Breezy Stories was full of great music.

Thanks for the memories...
