One of my favorite early tracks from Prince, such an incredible talent, such a deep wound that will never heal with his loss so soon...

For all the songs that never were, but also to remember to listen to all the ones we still can...

are laid here ... I'm not convinced he was yet anything more than a 'competent' guitarist at this point ... but his growth on the instrument between this and Purple Rain 2 years later ... was pretty astounding.

I'll never stop missing this dude ... more talent in his pinky finger than a lot of famous musicians have in their entire bodies

So many great tunes on that one ... My Name is Prince, Sexy MF, se7en, Blue Light, The Continental (one of my ALL TIME fave Prince jams ... and it's pretty much 100% Prince), this one ...

At that show, he played Acoustic & Electric Guitar, Saxophone, Bass, Drums, and Piano ... that I noticed. There may've been more. And all them BRILLIANTLY. He was a one man band the likes of which the world is unlikely to see again.

I honestly think his early '90-'95 run of Diamonds and Pearls, Symbol, Gold Experience, and Emancipation were when the guy was at the peak of his musical and performing prowess, even if he wasn't quite matching his songwriting from Dirty Mind-Sign heyday. Those are 4 CAREER albums by ANYone else's standard.
