It's no secret that a large group of folks like his songs better when other people do them, even if that isn't the case, which covers do you think are best?
I have to take "All Along the Watchtower" out of contention tho.
Hendrix took that song and it isn't really Bob's anymore.
This is a cover of a cover of a Dylan classic, and i think the 3rd generation is the best.
Ladies and Gentlemen this is Brass Against with "Maggie's Farm"

(13,186 posts)I feel like I should know why Chrissie was playing with Steve Cropper, Paul Schafer, GE Smith and the rest in 92, but I do not.
Can you help me with that?

(13,574 posts)PBS a few times. I think it's all on YouTube now. Lots of great performances from that.

(13,186 posts)I wonder what melodies bob had in mind when he wrote the words, but that was a good ass tune

Bryan was cutting edge

(1,255 posts)The Byrds took a rough raw Dylan song and turned it into a smooth beautiful song.

(9,153 posts)I thought it was the best part of the ghastly Saturday Night Live remote episode...Chris Martin solo acoustic performance of Shelter From The Storm.
...and I dont even like Coldplay/Martin particularly. But I enjoyed this, and have seen many live performances on SNL that have positively changed my opinion about certain artists.
Your mileage may very, of course.

(13,186 posts)First, his voice is so clean and with Coldplay so properly British.
Next, Pop Rock vocalists with acoustics guitars (all by themselves) - well that hasn't often been a recipe for success.
But he nailed it. I still very much prefer the Blood on the Tracks cut, don't get me wrong - but he nailed it in his own voice
here's the original Shelter From The Storm

(13,186 posts)Nice arrangement - Very understated tasty guitar, good vocal.
I am a bit embarrassed to say that I don't know this guy... But that's what I love about DU MA I learn here

(2,843 posts)He's been around since the 70's. You might recognize a couple of Bonnie Raitt songs that he wrote, "I Feel the Same" and "Love Me Like a Man". And he's just a great blues/folk guitarist.
