I read somewhere (years ago) that at that point in time--early spring 1966--Dylan's band was the loudest rock act on earth--louder than the Stones, the Beatles, the Yardbirds, the Who. People had never heard noise like that outside of an airport.

O that I could have been there!

if the sound system failed, they would mime it. The audience could not tell the difference.

(as was Linda Eastman) and he said he found it absolutely terrifying, besides which he couldn't hear a note of music.

Aside from the shrieking fans, the technology just wasn't there. There weren't even fold-back speakers so musicians could hear each other. I see those old clips and I'm amazed at how tight that band had to be just to stay in time and in tune with each other, let alone do harmonies. The best clips on YouTube are smaller gigs--Germany 1966, Australia 1964.

Best wishes.

what a miracle. First that the video even exists, and second = on the money harmonies, without any feedback. (amazing)
