Alberta Hunter - My Castle's Rockin'

Alberta was one of the pioneers of the blues, a contemporary of Bessie Smith and Ma Rainey. After 40 years in the business, she left it to become a registered nurse for 20 years. Forced into retirement, she returned to music and enjoyed a surprising comeback in her eighties. I love this song.

I think it was 1982. Can’t remember that well as it was in my drinking days. I do remember her performance of that song though. She knocked ‘em dead. I think she had just written a score for a movie and released an album called something like The Amtrak Blues. One of my personal heroes.
