This is for my cousin Mr. Lebowski, with whom I was speaking about Garage music

A little while ago.

I played a song with the tag "Garage Rock 2020"

Mr L. (Correctly) pointed out that the song lacked the crude basic sound of true Garage Rock.

If I can paraphrase him, his point was that the charm of Garage music was in large part its overcoming the limitations of crude recording tech and bare bones instrumentation to write a cool piece of music.

My answer was a laptop and a couple mics makes everyone a pro record producer.

Well, Rick Beato spoke about the ERA of "Imperfect" music compared to now when everyone can make "Perfect" songs.

It doesn't directly address what we were talking about - But his points run parallel to our discussion
