Single by The Chords
Songwriter(s): James Keyes, Claude Feaster & Carl Feaster, Floyd F. McRae, and William Edwards
"Sh-Boom" ( sometimes referred to as "Life Could Be a Dream" ) is an early doo-wop song by The Chords. It was written by James Keyes, Claude Feaster, Carl Feaster, Floyd F. McRae, and William Edwards, members of the R&B vocal group the Chords, and published in 1954. It was a U.S. top-10 hit that year for both the Chords (who first recorded the song) and the Crew-Cuts.
Okay, if you insist, here's the original doo-wop version of the song:

I have to admit, this is a personal favorite. "Mumble, you guys; mumble."

1954 parody of The Chords doo wop classic.
I can't stop laughing. Who is that on sax? Someone from the Billy May Orchestra. Those Capitol records from the '50s were so great.

(15,082 posts)Sweet Adelines - which is the women's version of Barbershop harmony. Not just the stodgy old time stuff. But it was great fun and the music was wonderful.
I've always said there's nothing better than a good barbershop group - and nothing worse than a bad one.

Fast forward to the early nineties and I'm out partying with friends. I saw the song on the jukebox, told my friends a pretty cool R&B song was coming up. Well...I had never heard of the Crew Cuts. I haven't ever lived that down.
