1. It gives me mixed feelings

First, I agree that it's great especially given the year it was made. There's nothing like music to bring people together.

And yet it's very sad that nearly 70 years later, our society is still struggling with racism and prejudice. That time has been nearly my whole life and I had hoped our country was moving forward when Mr. Obama was elected president.

Then we got Trump and his basketful of deplorables.

I hope we get big changes in November. I really do. I don't know how many years I have left but the cancer that Trump has revealed is disquieting.

2. We can make such beautiful music together....

If only our country had heard that message in 1952, or in any of the preceding years.

3. We know, by now, it takes a long time and a lot of work

to change mindsets and thinking and toxic beliefs. We will never be done with that work. I feel these kinds of messages should be produced again and placed on the social media platforms, radio and tv and maybe even movies during all the commercials they run now before the show starts.
