I was at a bluegrass festival in Louisville, KY in the early 80s where David Grisman invited Sam Bush onstage along with a then, unknown young banjo player. The following year the festival was headlined by a newly reformed Newgrass Revival including Bela Fleck. That first year may have been the first time those two played together in front of an large audience!
