(15,325 posts)Ok. That has to be a serious claim to fame that not many have in there collection.
I'm pretty sure I would have fainted at the chance to be there.
I love those years, & the music written into the history books by our amazing generation.

(1,474 posts)So, we would improvise and stow knee socks and a crew neck sweater in our locker to try and cover up the "uniform"! In retrospect, the nuns were probably watching on TV and laughing their arses off.

(15,325 posts)See, there was a revolutionary emerging at your young age..
I actually knew a lot of Catholic kids who had no confilcting issue with bending a few rules.
Pretty much did it all as long as they made it to mass on sunday.
They were the coolest kids. 😄

(15,325 posts)I think that was probably the mantra of our generation.
My story is that I went to party at 17 & stayed for 8 years.
Ha! Its was an incredibly good time.
What a fine story you have to tell.
Thank you!

(4,221 posts)I would literally run home everyday after school to watch bandstand at 4PM. How simple life was.

(10,198 posts)1. The young lady in Couple # 1 is wearing the dread Petti-Pants!
2. The young man in Couple # 3 seems to be pretty high-strung and ticked off at his partner as they wait to be introduced. Obvious from their routine that they're (he's?) trying much too hard - JB splits, really?? - and the cameraman seems to thinks so as well, since other couples with more basic routines got a lot more camera love.
Fun to watch! Thanks for posting.

(21,046 posts)In Houston, we had Larry Kane on Saturday morning. Same format, different guy.
When we went to grandmother's house, we tried to get AB on her B&W TV on Saturday morning. The nearest TV station was in Tyler, and everyone had to have a tall antenna out in the country. So my sister, my cousins and I are trying to watch AB. Grandmother walks through and says "Y'all shouldn't be watchin' that nigra music."
So we all behind her back as she walks through.
Another story: Mom, big sister, grand-units and I go see the Righteous Brothers in the summer of '64. We went to something at the old Coliseum and they were at the Music Hall next door. So we ask if we can go, as they have the smash hit singles "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" and "Unchained Melody".
Big sister and I are groovin' on the front row of the balcony (i'm the same age as OP), nine at the time.
Mom gets a headache on the downbeat and flies out on her broom to go downstairs.
Grand-units are absolutely SHELL SHOCKED. Can't move!!!
I decided they thought they were seeing a gospel group because of the name Righteous Brothers!!
They were in shock because it was loud, and it was white boys singin' that "nigra music"; therefore it was BAD.
We were proud of pulling a fast one on the old folks.
