The Jamaican patois spoken in the film was so thick that it would have been impossible for Americans to understand without subtitles. But the use of that patois is exactly why the movie became legendary in Jamaica.

The soundtrack, and another seventies film soundtrack, to a film called “Rockers,” are two of my favorite reggae albums ever.

I recorded the film on TCM way back when and have been watching it lately; time capsule material. This clip blew me away.
