David Bromberg, 1977, Capitol Theater, NJ

Lotta great music was happening at the Capitol, back in the day....Like this. The Band goes from Chicago Blues, then Irish Fiddle, then "Louise" (Leo Kottke) then Phoebe Snow. It's b/w, but the music is awesome. Christ, Bromberg was a great guitarist...Enjoy.

For a show that had quickly sold out in Philly. Met the guy at a Wawa in Delaware and he gave me a brief quiz about Springsteen to make sure I wasn't some kind of scalper just in it for $$$. I passed and enjoyed the show!

But the best time was his 50th birthday show in Portland, Me in '95. Played at the old Paris theater. After the show, met the band at the Top of the East, across the street. What a great bunch of dudes...

The names of the five dance tunes toward the end are: Leather Breeches (I think); Little Beggarman (aka Red Haired Boy, Gilderoy, Old Soldier, Old Soldier With a Wooden Leg), The Teetotaler, Wind that Shakes the Barley, and either Toss the Feathers or Drowsy Maggie (I forget). All are common Old-Time or Irish tunes played about everywhere there's a fiddle.

I'm not sure if Mr. Bromberg still performs or not but I'll bet he does. Why wouldn't he? Also, he's made a name for himself in another area too: The buying and selling of fine violins.
