5. Yeah the tunes are cool ... his vocal style reminds me a bit of Stevie Ray ...

The production on it however leans a bit much towards 'smooth jazz' for my personal preference. I wish it were a little more dynamic-sounding. Don't get me wrong it sounds good, I just find myself wishing it had a little rougher edge.

I do like it though overall. Good stuff ... I've vaguely heard this dudes name at some point but never heard him, that I know of.

I don't know this for sure but it looks like he came back to do some recording & got stuck home because of the Rona.

And you're right the "lounge sound" is a bit too present for my tastes. Although it may grow on me.

This one reminds me of Lonnie Mack TBH

I keep playing 5 or 6 seconds Lonnie clips looking for the song that this reminds me of, but I might be misremembering.

Can't find the tune I thought I remembered - This is kind of what I'm talking about, but it isn't quite it

7. Pretty much impossible to make a 'blues' song that doesn't sound like someone who came before ...

Like most genres, you stray far from the template and it's not really 'blues' anymore. And this particular one is very well plumbed.

Honestly to me this whole thing so far has a very SRV vibe ... but with a smoother production.

Then again, SRV was fairly un-original in his song stylings as well. He did do different 'regions' over his catalog though.

His playing OTOH ... was of course at a very special level.

But for some reason this track reminds me of Robert Cray and The Memphis Horns
