Bought this solo record when it 1st came out back in the 90s

Expecting a stone crushing metal guitar opus.

And instead found a musically dense multilayered album that forced me to make an investment in time and attention to "Get it"

Vernon had a fat account from Living Color, he wasn't looking for a payday so he just made the record he wanted to make.

It's worth your time

I love the Music Appreciation Group here on DU more than any music focused discussion board I've found - There is infinitely less snobbery and pissing on folks tastes and choices than most boards - While also having some really knowledgeable folks posting.

I've learned so much here these past --- Holy shit --- almost 6 years now.

I'm on eBay looking for a decent broker for the CD as I need this in my library for my personal use.

This one is a keeper for sure. A truly magnificent album all the way through.

John Zorn & Naked City
Bill Laswell
Mike Patton

You could probably throw in Laurie Anderson and the Golden Palominos in on the slightly more mainstream side of things. I was so into that stuff when I was in college. And yeah, Vernon Reid is a really versatile and creative guitarist.
