Hmm, I don't think I've ever stumbled on Molly covering any of Gillian Welch's songs - I know she's talked about how big of an influence they are on both her songwriting and guitar playing.

is a more recent guitar star. Have seen Welch and Rawlings live in a big old theater opening for another act. They were great, left after a few songs by headliner.

One time, they turned off the sound system for the last song of the night (Long Black Veil) in a 2000 person music hall. I don't think I've ever been in a crowd that size that was as silent.

And they often throw in these sort of unexpected covers, including Rawlings singing "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun."
