I stopped buying their new albums around that time, but still loved their earlier stuff.

I thought they were all great instrumentalists. The gradual shift to more synthesizer with lighter pop-like songs is what eventually turned me away.

It's still not my cup of tea compared to their earlier music, but it's not like I hate it.

I would've started with the grittier-sounding guitar parts. Geddy singing to the lighter instrumentals at the beginning might've made me switch stations quickly if I heard it on the radio. Lol.

Whereas this song caught my attention immediately the first time I ever heard it:

The 80s killed a lot of great bands. They had to struggle to get it back. Like Aerosmith. Their first four albums are the best any American band ever recorded. They've had good moments on a few albums since, but nothing rock solid from start to finish like those four albums. Nothing compares.

I was a little kid in Toronto and my friend's brother had it. It was a big deal.... and the cellar wine we had access to.
