The Lakes of Pontchartrain is a fave, but she's got lots of really good songs. In the Magic Hour is a brilliant record.

The Polack MSgt
(13,748 posts)The naming convention is "borrowed" Violin = Soprano, viola = Alto, Cello = Baritone, Mandolin Mandola and Mandocello follow that pattern
The body looks like a guitar more than most mandocellos do, Most look like Mandolins on steroids so I think it may be an Eastman Mandocello

All these years and there is an instrument I didn't even know existed even though I listen to the music in which it is most commonly used...
But this is the DU MAG - the place I learn. Great video too BTW

Mando family instruments have 4 pairs of strings.
Cool instrument, though.

(5,290 posts)I told you I didnt know from mandolins. I saw this band perform once, and that contrabass balalaika is almost small-person-sized. Amazing sound.

(5,290 posts)I love both womens voices, and this is sublime. I saw Aoife ODonovan with Crooked Still quite a few years ago.
