I totally dig her!

The Lakes of Pontchartrain is a fave, but she's got lots of really good songs. In the Magic Hour is a brilliant record.

The naming convention is "borrowed" Violin = Soprano, viola = Alto, Cello = Baritone, Mandolin Mandola and Mandocello follow that pattern

The body looks like a guitar more than most mandocellos do, Most look like Mandolins on steroids so I think it may be an Eastman Mandocello

It’s the mandolin family instrument that falls between the Mandola and the Mandocello.

Can't get more definitive than the artist herself telling you what her instrument is.

It's a great sounding instrument

Which is a bit embarrassing, not gonna lie.

All these years and there is an instrument I didn't even know existed even though I listen to the music in which it is most commonly used...

But this is the DU MAG - the place I learn. Great video too BTW

Three strings.

Mando family instruments have 4 pairs of strings.

Cool instrument, though.

I told you I didn’t know from mandolins. I saw this band perform once, and that contrabass balalaika is almost small-person-sized. Amazing sound.

I love both women’s voices, and this is sublime. I saw Aoife O’Donovan with Crooked Still quite a few years ago.
